About Nidhi Dubey
Nidhi Dubey is a UX researcher and service designer whose work combines user research, service design, co-design, behavioral thinking, and human-centered innovation. Her approach focuses on understanding people and the broader systems surrounding their experiences, then using those insights to inform products, services, and organizational decisions.
Nidhi’s research practice involves working closely with users to understand their behaviors, needs, expectations, and experiences. Her work extends beyond identifying usability problems, considering how research can help teams understand the wider context in which people interact with products and services.
Her academic background combines service management, design, and philosophy. Nidhi holds an MSc in Service Management and Design from the Edinburgh Futures Institute at the University of Edinburgh and a BA in Philosophy (Honours) from Lady Shri Ram College at the University of Delhi. This multidisciplinary foundation contributes to an approach that combines critical thinking with practical research and design methods.
Nidhi has contributed to academic and applied research involving sustainability, responsible technology, and the Internet of Things. As a research assistant, she contributed to the “Fixing the Future” project, where she helped design the Right to Repair Cards, a tool created to support conversations around more sustainable consumer IoT products.
Her work on the Right to Repair Cards contributed to research presented at NordiCHI 2024. The project explored how law, design, sustainability, and technology can come together to encourage more responsible approaches to the development of connected consumer products.
Nidhi has also collaborated with organizations and initiatives including Creative Informatics and UNESCO’s City of Literature, applying user experience research, service design, and co-design methodologies to projects involving technology, creativity, and communities.
Her professional interests increasingly include the role of artificial intelligence in user research. Nidhi explores how AI can help researchers work with existing knowledge, analyze information, and expand the value of research while recognizing the risks associated with bias, representation, context, and over-reliance on automation.
Her perspective emphasizes that AI does not replace the researcher’s responsibility to interpret evidence critically. As research tools become more sophisticated, she sees the researcher’s role evolving toward curating, validating, questioning, and contextualizing AI-supported insights while preserving the nuance that makes research meaningful.
Nidhi also brings a strong experimental mindset to product research. Her work and writing explore methods such as usability testing, prototyping, behavioral research, and A/B testing, with an emphasis on using evidence rather than assumptions to guide product decisions.
Beyond her professional research work, Nidhi has pursued independent technology projects. She created Kovenant, a digital platform that allowed her to explore the complete product-development process, from designing the experience to experimenting with development and backend logic. The project reflects her interest in understanding not only research and design, but also how digital products are ultimately built.
Nidhi is also active in research and community initiatives. She volunteers as a User Experience Researcher with the Scottish Tech Army and has contributed to academic publications and professional conversations around human-computer interaction, sustainability, responsible design, and emerging technology.
Her professional development includes certifications and training in AI in User Research, UX research, prototyping, UX design, responsible generative AI, and AI-supported design processes. This continued learning reflects her interest in how emerging tools can be incorporated into research without losing sight of human needs and research quality.
As a contributor to Userlytics resources, Nidhi brings a multidisciplinary perspective that connects UX research, service design, behavioral thinking, sustainability, and emerging technology. Her work demonstrates how research can move beyond simply collecting feedback toward helping teams understand people, question assumptions, and make more informed decisions.
Through her research, design work, academic contributions, and experimentation with new technologies, Nidhi advocates for a thoughtful approach to innovation: one that uses technology to expand what researchers and designers can accomplish while keeping real people, their contexts, and their experiences at the center of the process.
