About Desi Reuben-Sealey

Desi Reuben-Sealey is a UX leader, designer, researcher, mentor, speaker, and change agent with extensive experience helping organizations create better digital experiences. His work combines UX strategy, research, interaction design, design leadership, digital transformation, and organizational change, with a strong focus on understanding human behavior and designing around real customer needs.

Desi currently serves as Senior Manager UX at Victorinox, where he leads UX initiatives across the organization. His responsibilities include growing the UX team, helping define digital commerce processes, leading the design delivery of digital experiences, and supporting the organization’s transition toward a headless and composable technology platform.

His approach to UX extends beyond individual interfaces. Desi focuses on how UX can influence organizations, teams, systems, and business decisions. He has worked to establish UX methodologies as best practices, collaborate across departments, and help organizations understand how customer experience can contribute to broader business goals.

Before Victorinox, Desi served as Senior UX/UI Manager at Debenhams, where he took a hands-on approach to coaching, mentoring, growing, and leading the design team. His work included evolving the design language, shaping experience design strategy, managing projects and dependencies, and using data and evidence to support better digital experiences.

Desi has also developed a strong perspective on the relationship between UX and business leadership. He advocates for UX professionals to become change agents within organizations, helping teams understand customers and encouraging businesses to move beyond simply delivering interfaces toward creating experiences that genuinely work for people.

A recurring theme in Desi’s work is the importance of understanding human behavior. He emphasizes that UX principles remain relevant even as technology changes, arguing that the tools and platforms may evolve while fundamental aspects of how people perceive, understand, and interact with systems change much more slowly.

Desi’s writing explores a broad range of UX topics, including design systems, cognitive load, emotional design, progressive disclosure, UX storytelling, critical thinking, AI, leadership, and research. His articles and posts frequently connect UX principles with organizational behavior and business outcomes, encouraging practitioners to think beyond traditional design deliverables.

He is also particularly interested in the evolving relationship between UX and artificial intelligence. His recent work examines AI governance, responsible AI, AI-assisted design workflows, and the importance of maintaining human judgment as organizations adopt increasingly powerful technologies. He argues that many AI challenges are ultimately organizational and leadership challenges rather than purely technical ones.

Desi has maintained a strong commitment to continuous learning throughout his UX career. He completed his first Nielsen Norman Group course in 2016, later achieving NN/g Master Certification in 2021, and more recently completed training in AI for Design Workflows. He describes these experiences as reinforcing the importance of continuous learning, critical thinking, and staying grounded in human behavior.

His professional credentials also include certifications from Contentsquare, including Contentsquare Certified Expert and Contentsquare Expert in E-Merchandising. He is also associated with the American Board of Design & Research, where he serves on the executive board as Director of Admissions UK.

Desi is an active contributor to the UX community through articles, videos, speaking engagements, mentoring, and professional discussions. His LinkedIn profile includes more than 25 published articles covering UX, design leadership, personal growth, AI, research, and organizational change.

He has also participated in industry events and discussions around customer experience, retail, AI, loyalty, digital transformation, and UX leadership. In 2024, he appeared as a speaker discussing the role of UX in retail and the importance of creating consistent experiences across customer touchpoints.

As a contributor to Userlytics resources, Desi brings a leadership-oriented perspective to UX research and design. His experience demonstrates how research and user-centered thinking can influence not only individual products, but also organizational strategy, digital transformation, team structures, and business decisions.

Through his work, writing, mentoring, and speaking, Desi encourages UX professionals to think critically, understand human behavior, collaborate across organizational boundaries, and use their expertise to create meaningful change. His perspective connects the practical realities of UX delivery with the larger question of how organizations can become more customer-centered.
