About Alejandro Rivas-Micoud

Alejandro Rivas-Micoud is the CEO of Userlytics, where he draws on decades of experience in technology, research, testing, telecommunications, software, and SaaS to lead the company and advance its approach to qualitative and quantitative user experience research. His career combines technical expertise, international business leadership, entrepreneurship, and extensive experience working with organizations across different markets.Alejandro began his professional career in engineering and safety testing, designing and implementing testing procedures for nuclear power reactor safety systems. His early work included projects for the U.S. Navy, Bechtel Power Corporation, and Cleveland Electric Power Company. This technical foundation gave him extensive experience working with complex systems, testing methodologies, and high-stakes technology environments.After completing his MBA at INSEAD in Europe, Alejandro moved into the telecommunications market research industry in Japan. There, he served as a CEO and led an international team of French, Japanese, and U.S. market researchers and consultants. His work involved assisting major telecommunications companies with strategic product management, market research, and business decisions, giving him significant experience at the intersection of technology, research, and commercial strategy.Following his time in Japan, Alejandro pursued a series of entrepreneurial ventures across Europe in software, telecommunications, and SaaS. Among these ventures was Aló Communications and Clearwire Spain, a wireless telecommunications operator that was ultimately sold to Clearwire Communications in 2006. His entrepreneurial experience has continued to inform his approach to technology businesses, product development, market opportunities, and innovation.At Userlytics, Alejandro combines his technology and research background with his experience as an entrepreneur and executive to help organizations better understand their users. His work has contributed to the development and growth of Userlytics as a platform for remote user testing, UX research, usability testing, and qualitative research. He has also written and contributed to resources covering UX research, usability testing, product development, market research, and the evolving role of technology in understanding users.Alejandro has been involved in executive leadership organizations throughout his career. He joined the Young Presidents’ Organization (YPO) in 2004 and the World Presidents’ Organization (WPO) in 2011. He is also the founder of the Personal Board of Directors Programs of Silicon Valley and Madrid, initiatives focused on providing executives and entrepreneurs with access to peer perspectives, experience, and strategic guidance.His international career has taken him across the United States, Europe, and Asia, giving him experience working with multicultural teams and organizations in highly competitive technology markets. His combination of engineering, research, business, and entrepreneurial experience provides a broad perspective on how technology and research can be used to understand customers, improve products, and support better business decisions.
