The service enables you to send participants to any starting point URL and perform a directed task or goal, or to upload files for participants to access on our secure site.
As a client, you receive Video in Video (ViV) recordings of what the participants saw and did (full desktop screen recording) as well as of their facial expressions, home or workplace context, and spoken thought process (webcam recordings) as they attempt to complete the task or goal you have defined. Loading a prototype or concept storyboard to our secure server is quick and easy. From the Get Started page, select the “Load a Prototype to Test” option, upload as many prototype files (images, PDF files, html files, etc.) as you wish, and you're done. Be sure to select a starting point for your test by clicking the radio button next to the file you wish participants to use first.
At the moment, we accept image files (.JPG, .GIF, .PNG) and PDF, as well as web files (HTML, JS, CSS) and compressed files (Zip). If you have a proprietary file format or something that is not listed above, please contact us and we will be happy to review your needs and work with you to make your project a success.
We have implemented commercially reasonable technical and organizational measures designed to secure your prototypes from accidental loss and from unauthorized access, use, alteration or disclosure. However, we cannot guarantee that unauthorized third parties will never be able to defeat those measures or use your non-production prototypes for improper purposes.
For privacy reasons, Userlytics panel participants are prohibited from completing purchase processes with personal credit card information. If you would like the participants to complete such goals up to the point where such data is entered, please provide a dummy credit card number for them to use in your goal description when creating a study.
In the Test Builder, you can edit your goals, questions or demographic selections until you are satisfied. Or, our Professional Services department can assist and advise and set up the study. Once you click on the checkout button in the Test Builder, or once you accept the recommendations of our Profesional Services department, you are committed to the study. Once a study has been submitted and paid for, we cannot give refunds.
Most study results are available in as little as 24 to 48 hours. Demographic selection criteria may extend this time period in some cases.
You may review your study results up to 90 days after placing your order.
Our reports are designed to be filtered, printed, and e-mailed to the rest of your team and/or clients. For the audiovisual portions of the reports, you may send the relevant links and passwords to your colleagues, management, clients and suppliers, including the hyperlinked annotations of the "Video Highlights" section (Enterprise Package). You may also receive the video files in a variety of formats for editing and including in your own reports (Enterprise Package).

Experts generally agree that using a minimum of 5 participants will uncover 80% of usability issues, and is the most efficient manner to conduct small scale qualitative user experience and user reaction studies. We have found that it is more efficient and cost effective to conduct numerous small sample studies iteratively, and then use multivariate testing at the end of the process with larger samples to conduct final optimization. There is currently no other service that provides full audio visual unmoderated observation of participants in their homes or workplaces. Many services provide simple task or click stream based surveys, heat maps etc. Some provide a screen recording plus an audio recording of participants. None allows for simultaneous web cam plus screen recording, or allows for the entire desktop, not just browser based activity, or allows for hosted prototype testing.

Our highest rated participants comprise people who've consistently achieved the highest performance ratings from both clients and the Userlytics team. You may choose to use them, or, alternatively, participants who have never participated in a study, or a combination, or a succession of both in a series of studies.
In our basic panel, for Education, those with < 4 years of college education are considered as having some college experience or a high school diploma or equivalent. Those with 4 years of college education or higher are considered to have a Bachelor's degree or graduate degree.
For Employment, those who are employed are segmented as self-employed, working part-time, or working full-time. However, you may request, as part of a customized recruitment, any degree of specificity and granularity in your demographic Persona requirements, anywhere in the world.
You should plan for the goal or series of goals/tasks you define to require no more than 10 minutes of a participant's time. The follow up questions are completed separately and do not impact the time to finish the goal or tasks.
