    You might ask about:

    • Site navigation
    • Mobile App downloads and interactions
    • The understanding of an ad message
    • The search process
    • The process for satisfying a need or objective
    • Ease of use and intuitiveness
    • Design, video, colors, layout
    • Specific processes such as: registration, log in, check out, utilities, etc.
    • If they would use your site or recommend it to a friend
    • Other user experience & reaction questions specific to your objectives
    • Comparisons with competitors, production and prototype assets, offline and online media
  • What is prototype testing?

Prototype testing allows you to easily and quickly identify issues with the user interface of your prototype, mobile App, ad concept or storyboard, or wireframe during the early stages of design or development, and prior to spending significant sums of money on multivariate testing. Early detection of issues provides the opportunity to make necessary course corrections early in the process, when change is less costly.

Early testing gives a better understanding of what features your users will appreciate, how and why they react to your message, and limits problems identified after your next product launch, campaign or upgrade.

  • How does testing a prototype work?

Loading a wireframe, prototype, concept storyboard, powerpoint, video, etc to our secure server is quick and easy. This is done when you first set up a test, where you can choose from initiating a test from a live URL, or to upload a file or set of files.

  • What kind of files can be uploaded for testing?

You can upload any type of file (JPG, .GIF, .PNG, PDF, HTML, JS, CSS, etc), except executable and web system files (PHP, ASP, CGI etc) by compressing a single file or a multiple set of files into a ZIP file. The maximum size of the ZIP file cannot exceed 5 MB.

If you have a proprietary file format that you are unsure of, please contact us and we will be happy to review your needs and work with you to make your project a success.

  • How secure are the files uploaded to Userlytics for testing?

We have implemented commercially reasonable technical and organizational measures designed to secure your uploaded files from accidental loss and from unauthorized access, use, alteration or disclosure. However, we cannot guarantee that unauthorized third parties will never be able to defeat those measures or use your files for improper purposes. Because respondents are accessing the tests from their homes or workplaces, we cannot guarantee that they will not copy them or use them improperly. We CAN request an NDA from respondents as part of the test workflow. Another alternative is to set up a test on a password protected client site, with a temporary password provided to participants.

  • What if my task requires the use of a credit card?

For privacy reasons, Userlytics panel participants are prohibited from completing purchase processes with personal credit card information. If you would like the participants to complete such goals up to the point where such data is entered, please provide a dummy credit card number for them to use in your goal description when creating a study.

If you wish to test a paid App on the mobile AppStore, you will be asked to specify this when setting up a test and a Userlytics representative will contact you to coordinate the payment logistics with the respondent.

  • What if I make a mistake setting up a test?

You can edit your directions, goals, tasks and questions or demographic selections until you are satisfied. When setting up a test under one of the monthly subscription plans, you can change the target URL or tasks/goals even after you have received initial results; from the time of the change onwards, new respondents will use the new URLs and tasks/goals.

  • How soon will my test results be available?

If you are using your own participants, it depends on how quickly they respond to the invitation. Our platform processing time takes between 10 and 20 minutes, so you can receive results extremely quickly.

When using the Userlytics Panel, because we do a through QA of every video and provide Hyperlinked Video Highlights, most test results are available in as little as 24 to 48 hours.

For custom recruiting projects, it depends upon the demographic criteria and target Persona.

  • How long can I view my test results after I've ordered one?

You may view your test results up to 90 days after they have been completed. We cannot guarantee that we will keep results beyond that date. You can download the results (both videos and survey results) anytime within the 90 day period and keep and edit and share as needed if your are a Gold subscriber, or have purchased an Enterprise Account/Project.

  • What functionality does the dashboard for accessing results have?

Depending upon which product (Enterprise Account/Project) or Plan (Basic, Silver or Gold) you choose, you can access each individual video, as well as the "Video Highlights" section, where you can review key events and comments and link directly to the specific video and timeline moment of the event or comment. You can make annotations directly on the timeline, which are automatically added to the "Video Highlights" section. You can review the answers to the survey phase of each test. You can modify tasks/goals and target URLs of ongoing tests. You can selectively share access to the dashboard with your clients or colleagues on a project by project basis. You can download individual videos and survey results.

  • Can I order tests on websites, advertisementss, or processes for respondents that are located overseas?

Yes. You may invite participants from anywhere in the world, or ask Userlytics to custom recruit for you, both B2B and B2c, anywhere. If you are interested in Userlytics recruiting a specific demographic criteria, please contact us for a custom quotation in the desired location.

  • Do you conduct customized projects?

Yes. Please contact us to learn more.

  • What is the minimum number of participants you recommend for each test?

Experts generally agree that using 5-10 participants per test will uncover 80% of usability issues, and is the most efficient manner to conduct small scale qualitative user experience and user reaction studies. We have found that it is more efficient and cost effective to conduct numerous small sample studies iteratively, and then use multivariate testing at the end of the process with larger samples to conduct final optimization. • I reside outside of the US. In which currency do I pay?

You need to pay in US dollars using a Credit Card or PayPal. For custom projects wire transfers or checks may also be used.

  • Where do the respondents of the Userlytics Panel come from?

The Userlytics US and UK Panel comprises crowd sourced people from all backgrounds, operating in their natural environment, who receive incentives and a rating system. In addition, many of our clients ask us to custom recruit highly specific demographic participants from around the world.

Depending upon the product (Basic, Silver, Gold or Enterprise) study results are reviewed for adherence to Userlytics testing and quality control guidelines prior to clients receiving the results.

  • Who are Userlytics' highest rated participants?

Our highest rated participants comprise people who've consistently achieved the highest performance ratings from both clients and the Userlytics team. You may choose to use them, or, alternatively, participants who have never participated in a study, or a combination, or a succession of both in a series of studies.

  • How are Userlytics Panel participant demographics segmented with regards to Education and Employment?

In our basic panel, for Education, those with < 4 years of college education are considered as having some college experience or a high school diploma or equivalent. Those with 4 years of college education or higher are considered to have a Bachelor's degree or graduate degree.

For Employment, those who are employed are segmented as self-employed, working part-time, or working full-time. However, you may request, as part of a customized recruitment, any degree of specificity and granularity in your demographic Persona requirements, anywhere in the world.

  • How much time will the participants have to complete my goal(s) or task(s)?

Depending upon the product (Silver, Gold or Enterprise), the maximum time for achieving tasks and goals can be 15 minutes, or higher. The post task survey questions are completed separately and do not impact the time to finish the goals or tasks.

  • What if I'm dissatisfied with one of the participants?

We encourage you to utilize our rating system to help us improve the quality of our service over time. If for some reason a participant has not met your expectations, please contact us and let us know. We value your input and are always looking for ways to improve our service.

  • Can I use participants based outside of the United States?

Yes, you may invite participants from our UK or Canada-based Userlytics Panel, or use a 3rd party panel provider, or invite participants yourself by sending them invitation links or posting them on your website or social media sites, or you can contact us for a customized recruitment quotation from anywhere in the world, at any incidence level.

  • What happens when I switch from one plan to another?

When you switch from one plan to another, and the change is an upgrade (Basic to Silver, or Silver to Gold), then you gain immediate access to the new plan features and number of test results. If the change is a downgrade (Gold to Silver or Basic, or Silver to Basic), then you will still have access to your existing features and number of test results until the date of your next scheduled billing date, when the change will take effect.

  • What are the browser requirements to use and access all functions of Userlytics?

We recommend using Microsoft Internet Explorer 8 and higher, Mozilla Firefox 4.x and higher, Apple Safari 4.x and higher, Google Chrome 4.x and higher.

  • Can I use the same participant invitation link for multiple sessions, for example, when conducting multiple video diary type sessions throughout an extended period?

Yes. Participants can reuse the invitation link multiple times. Each time the Userlytics Recorded is downloaded, an image of the Java applet will remain on the participant desktop. This can be eliminated, and will no longer work for that participant testing instance. However, the link the participant was sent/provided for the test can be reused multiple times, and each time they will be asked to download the Userlytics Recorder, an applet that automatically deletes itself from the cache after each test.
